A gaff rigged schooner passes the Alligator Reef Lighthouse off the Florida Keys. Built in 1873, the name honors the wreck of a U. S. Navy schooner Alligator that once roamed the Caribbean hunting pirates. It went aground at this location in 1822. I've snorkeled here. It's some of the best in the Keys.
